There will be increased fire protection for the property owners in Bayou Blue in the future. On Monday, July 11, Polmer Brothers, Ltd. sold the Bayou Blue Fire Protection District 1.578 acres of property on LA Highway 316 at Adda Road for the future construction of the Dr. Jacob Levy Fischman Fire Station.
Named after the family patriarch, the Fischman family (owners of Polmer Brothers, Ltd.) was pleased to work with the fire district to serve the residents and business owners in Bayou Blue.
Debra Fischman, Secretary/Treasurer of Polmer Bros. and Dr. Fischman’s daughter, signed the sale but also had her mother, Fagey, present to honor the memory of her father. Polmer Brothers was represented in the transaction by Logan “Hank” Babin, III of Logan Babin Real Estate, the broker for all of the Fischman’s remaining acreage (~1,500 acres) for sale in Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes.
John Culhane signed for the Fire District, which was represented in the transaction by Debbie Blackwell of Latter & Blum of Houma. Mr. Culhane was very excited to finally have a location purchased after an exhaustive search. He said the Fire District was pleased to name the station after Dr. Fischman, who served the area’s medical needs for so many years after being a decorated veteran of World War II.
The remainder of the Ducros Plantation tract is available for sale through Logan Babin Real Estate. Over 1,183′ of frontage remains on LA Hwy 316 with ~87.75 acres ready to be developed to the Hollywood Canal. An additional 146 acres of wooded recreational property is on the other side of the canal.
Beside a new fire station for protection, the pending completion of Bayou Gardens Blvd. Extension will offer this area direct access to the MLK retail corridor in Houma.
