A recently released study ranked the Houma-Thibodaux area as the second happiest place in the country. In fact, Louisiana had the Top 5 cities overall with Lafayette as #1, Shreveport-Bossier City #3, Baton Rouge #4, and Alexandria #5. Lake Charles was in the Top 10 at #8. In contrast, New York City was named the unhappiest place in America.

Oddly enough, the same day, a New York Times report ranked Terrebonne and Lafourche as some of the “Hardest Places to Live in the US”. So either the Houma-Thibodaux region has some of the most resilient people anywhere (to be so happy in such a hard place to live). Or the unhappiest city (New York) was simply trying to bring us down from our happy place!
